Alphacube cumulated 90 years’ experience in the Energy Markets and Risk Management

AlphaCube has succeeded in synthesizing the skills brought by its 4 associates. They have in common a rich past in the commodities department of Société Générale since 2000, each one in a singular position but all oriented towards the same desire of efficiency. Most of them participated in the creation of GASELYS, the first partnership between a bank and an energy specialist. They also participated in the creation of ORBEO, which played a leading role in the development of the Carbon market in Europe. Today, AlphaCube, rich in the skills of its partners and relying on a network built over the last ten years, offers its expertise solutions. 

Philippe has more than 25 years of expertise in energy markets in trading and origination within the banking and utilities sectors. He has managed trading books, initiated structured transactions and led sales and trading teams. He had a major role in the creation of energy desks within different institutions, the main one being Gaselys a JV between Société Générale and Engie. He started his career in 1995 as a gas trader on the European markets at Société Générale before participating in the creation of Gaselys in the early 2000s where he held the roles of gas and electricity manager and head of proprietary trading for 10 years. Back at Société Générale, he was responsible for trading and sales on the energy markets in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In 2019 he created and managed the French branch of a Danish physical trader, Global Risk Management. He is a graduate of the Nancy Business School (ICN) and have a Master’s degree in trading from ESLSCA.

Outhman is a versatile professional with 14 years experience in risk management. He started his career with a 5 years experience as a commodities quantitative analyst whithin Société Générale’s Risk Management Department. His successful interactions with the front office gave him the opportunity to join Société Générale’s Energy Trading as an oil derivatives trader for more than 7 years of a tremendous journey where the drivers were serving customers interests, solid risk management and constant delivery. In an endeavor to become an entrepreneur, Outhman has launched a consulting activity in 2020, focusing on risk management in the financial and energy sectors. Outhman holds a Master of Science in Aerospace engineering from Supaero (Toulouse) and a Master of Science in probability and statistics form Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse). He is also a certified Data Scientist from Ecole Polytechnique (Paris).

Abdessamad has more than 15 years in Risk Management. He has elaborated risk policies and frameworks for several trading books, including commodities and energy businesses, tackling the standard financial risks, specific risks related to dealing with physical assets (storages/warehouses, transportation…), liquidity/concentration and reputational risks.

He played a key role in risk department supervising Gaselys, a JV between Societe Generale and Engie. Back to Societe Generale in 2010, he was deputy head of Commodity risk department in charge of Energy, Metals and Agricultural/soft market businesses, where he was leading a team of more than 10 experienced risk analysts.

Abdessamad has been working in Hong Kong as a senior risk manager in charge of market/counterparty risks for Asian market operations. Back to Paris in 2017, he worked for Societe Generale risk departments in charge of design of models to use in the global risk metrics such as Stress-Tests, considering all challenges in terms of both the targeted scope which was covering a wide range of payoff and underlying types (Vanilla/Exotics, Equity/Rates/FX/Credit/Commodities) and all regulatory and internal guidelines. Over his career within different risk departments, Abdessamad has gained a proven track record and a wide-ranging overview of stakes with the ability to tackle them with rigor and professional support.
